This is one the daily running express trains that connects Howrah in West Bengal to Dibrugarh in Assam, two important cities in Eastern India. Train numbers 15483 up and 15484 down running between North Bengal and Eastern Bihar is the Mahananda Express that is operated by North East Frontier Railways. This train has been named after the famous Mahananda River which runs through Bengal and parts of Eastern Bihar and thus sometimes the train even crosses this gigantic river 5 times.
