Did you know about the country’s first railway station that received green tag? This post will give you a brief over the same. This award is been given recently in Jaipur. Secunderabad railway station is been honoured and recognized as the first railway station that is certified as the ‘Green Railway station’, and the award is been given by the esteemed Indian green Building Council IGBC – CII Confederation of Industry. It is been such an honour and prestigious thing for the country and Indian Railways that is been putting excellent efforts and initiatives.

 

In accord to the official statement belonging from SCR – South Central Railway on Wednesday, Secunderabad railway station has been distinguished and bagged with the silver rating in the segment and this award cum certification will remain valid for an overall period of 3 years. The event Green Building Congress 2017 is been held in Jaipur on 5th October and the plaque, shield and certification of honour is been presented by the reckoned Chief Executive Officer of World Green Building Council Terri Wills and Chairman Tai Lee Siang to the Secunderabad division officials.

 

The Secunderebad railway station general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav highly appreciated and feels grateful to all the officials who are involved in the process and initative and who are fully responsible in achieving this achievement. The railway station of Secunderabad is been spread in a total 13.34 acres land area and there are about 408 different kinds of trees planted and available across the area. Adding to this, a 500 Kwp solar plant is also been installed here that generates about 2500 units of power each day, addressing to about 37% of energy saving and approximate 72.92 lakh on an annual basis.
