Like every year Indian Railway made special arrangement for people traveling during Onam.

Southern Railways introduced additional Onam special train from Yesvantpur to Ernakulam junction and from Hyderabad to Kollam.

Yesvantpur – Ernakulam junction – Yesvantpur Garib Rath express special (train 06551)  left  Yesvantpur at 11.15pm on August 25 and was scheduled to arrive at Ernakulam junction at 12.15pm the next day. Train 06552 Ernakulam junction – Yesvantpur Garib Rath special  left Ernakulam junction at 3.30pm on August 26 and reached Yesvantpur at 4am the next day.

The composition of the trains was 16 AC three-tier coaches. The trains were scheduled to stop at Banaswadi, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Ottapalam, Thrissur and Aluva. Train 06551 will stop at Ernakulam town also.

Advance reservations for the above trains commenced on Thursday.

Train 07166 Hyderabad – Kollam special  left  Hyderabad at 2pm on August 27 and was scheduled to arrive Kollam at 10pm, the next day. Train 07165 Kollam – Hyderabad special was scheduled to leave Kollam at 9.30pm on August 29 and arrive at Hyderabad at 4am on August 31. The composition of the trains will be one AC two-tier, one AC three-tier, 10 sleeper class, 2 general second class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

The trains will stop at Secunderabad Junction, Kazipet Junction, Warangal, Mahbubabad, Dornakal, Khammam, Vijayawada, Tenali, Nidubrolu, Bapatla, Chirala, Ongole, Kavali, Nellore, Gudur, Venkatagiri, Sri Kalahasti, Renigunta, Tirupathi, Chittoor, Katpadi, Gudiyattam, Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palghat, Thrisur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Tiruvalla, Chengannur and Kayankulam.
