How to reach Mount Abu

Located in the western state of Rajasthan, Mount Abu is a renowned hill station in Sirohi district. This place forms a rocky plateau 22 km in length and 9 km in width. Being a popular hill destination, it is connected to the rest of the country by an efficient network of railways, airways and roads.

To reach Mount Abu by railways, you have to get down at the nearest railway station to Mount Abu, which is at the Abu Road, a mere 28kms from the main city. It is well connected by rail routes to New Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur. From this place you can opt for state transport service usually running at a frequency of an hour. Taxi on private and sharing basis are available.

Things to do at Mount Abu

Ambaji pilgrimage– Having a lot of cultural and religious importance, this temple is regarded as one of the Shakti peethas. It is one of the major pilgrimage centers in the region and every day thousands of people throng to this place. It can be considered as a holy place and is around 23 km away.

Jirawala– Famous for its Jain temple complex, it is a village located in Sirohi district. It is located at a distance of 60 km. It is a mere 2.5 km from Mount Abu, it was built between the 11th and 13th century A.D. one of the amazing features of these temples are the use of marble in terms of architecture that makes it one of the beautiful pilgrimage centers of the world.

Mount Abu is scripted in Hindu mythology as the place where Saint Agashta retired. It is a hill station and a blend of spices. Some of the places to look up in this region are-

Abu Road

Though this is a different place altogether, Abu road is stationed near the Banas river, is a must visit for sure. One can refer it as a railway station in a picture perfect setting. The weather is pleasant, and to enjoy to the fullest, you need to pay a visit to this place in the month of November to December. Several important temples are located here and is a place renowned for Hindu mythology as the architecture is something world class. Banas River is also a great picnic spot and you enjoy it during mild rainfalls. Many travelers may find this place a bit boring as it has nothing to offer, but for a single traveler, this place may spring up a lot of surprises.

Guru Shikar

As already mentioned it is the highest point in the Aravalli mountain range. If you are looking for a panoramic view of this region, then this place has to be it. There is nothing much apart from places of religious centers in this region. Ensure that you carry along it your packaged water and food, but do not carry alcohol, as this place is considered pretty scared.
