How to Reach Ellora Caves by – Train, Air, Road and Car

Ellora is a spiritual location in Maharastra, central India. Ellora is a UNESCO world heritage place and is famous for its Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temples and monuments which were engraved from the local cliff rock in the 6th to 8th century CE. Based in the Sahyadri hills near Aurangabad, Ellora is the most important second-sea surf site of ancient rock-cut building in India. In the western face of one hill, poised of volcanic Basalt rock, there are 35 caves and rock-cut temples, largely formed during the domain of the Kalachuri dynasty in the 6th and 7th centuries CE.

All Ellora monuments were constructed during Hindu empire such as the Rashtrakuta dynasty who built some of the Hindu & Buddhist class of caves, and Yadav dynasty who built some of the Jain group of caves.

You can conveniently book prepaid cabs from the airport to reach your destination as Aurangabad airport is the nearest airport near Ellora. It is about 84 kms from Aurangabad runway to Ellora.
