The Bareilly Railway Station (station code BE) is an important station in Northern Railway’s Moradabad Division. The Bareilly Bareilly Railway Station has as many as six lines and seven (four broad gauge, three meter gauge) platforms. Some of the lines are meter gauge. Trains connected Bareilly Railway Station well from the 19th century. The Bengal and North Western Railway took over the Tirhut State Railway in 1890. The Lucknow-Sitapur-Seramow Provincial State Railway and the Bareilly-Pilibheet Provincial State Railway merged to form the Lucknow-Bareilly Railway in 1891. The Oudh and Tirhut Railway Company operated the line until 1943, when it merged with the Rohilkund and Kumaon Railway. In 1952, Indian Railways formed the North Eastern Railway with its headquarters in Gorakhpur.
