The next time you plan your train journey from Delhi – Jaipur, you might just come across Indian Railways’ latest addition – the new, air-conditioned double Decker train on your way.

Apparently, the Railways minister Mukul Roy unfurled the first ride of double-decker train service from Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla station to the Pink City covering about 5 hours of travel. Meant to be a daily service, the yet to be named double-decker will leave Sarai Rohilla at 5.35 pm and reach Jaipur at 10.05 pm. The train will then depart from Jaipur at 5.55 am on its return journey.

The standards of this train have also been raised keeping in view the advancement as well as technique incorporated. The double-decker coach has been manufactured by the Kapurthala coach factory in Punjab along with a seating capacity of 120. Equipped with fully automatic doors, each coach has eight emergency windows and fire extinguishers near its door.

The coaches have been designed keeping both safety and passenger comfort in mind. Also, each coach will have a mini-pantry including fridge and microwave. However, there is little information provided on the quality and variety in terms of food menu. Even if the food turns out to be disappointing, there is no need to worry. Since, you can now order food even while travelling simply by contacting TravelKhana at 8800138811.
