Train number up 12343 and down 12344, travelling from Darjeeling to Kolkata via New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri is the famous train. The Darjeeling Mail, considered to be a well-known train of the Eastern Railways, covers Bolpur, Malda town and Kishanganj. This is one of the daily running trains that cover a total distance of 567 Km originating at Sealdah going via Haldibari till jalpaiguri. Total time taken by the train to complete the route is around 10 hours.

Being a daily train, the Indian Railway has taken a complete care of cleanliness and punctuality with a good rail filing. There are guards provided in the railway service to provide a safe and secured journey to the passengers. It being one of the earliest trains of India, the history goes back to the British reign where it is believed to connect North Bengal through East Bengal during that era.

Train 12635 up and 12636 down, running between Madurai and Chennai is called the Superfast Vaigai Express. This is the most common choice and demand of people here in this route to travel. It crosses the most famous station of Tiruchirappalli and is operated by Southern Railways, the south zone of Indian Railways.

This is rather a daily running train that stops in seven most important stations all through its journey. The starting point of the train is Egmore and ending point is Madurai Junction. Being a local train, this train is covering a total distance of 497 kms in an average time of 8 hours. 12635/Vaigai Express Chennai to Madurai Route, Schedule & Time Table –

Vaigai Express is in the superfast category and an intercity express that offers passengers with daily service between the stations Chennai and Madurai. It runs via Tiruchirapalli. Southern Railway Zone is in charge of its operation.

This train right from its inception has managed to catch the imagination of both the generations and offering timely service. There was a need for a day train between the stations of Madurai and Madras (now Chennai). Such was its popularity that its demand increased from 1970’s onwards. It was on 15th August 1977 that this train was first flagged down at 6am with the number 135 from Madurai. It also has earned the nickname of ‘Horse of the Chord line’ and does enjoy excellent reputation for being on time. Served by the Southern Railways, it is regarded to be the initial train in the Madurai Divn. To be hauled by WAP 7, the most prestigious Indian loco. The operating speed is 39 mph (63 km/hr).

Currently, the train 12635 departs from Chennai station at 13:40 hours and reaches Madurai at 21:20 hours. The halts from Chennai are Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Tiruchirapali, Manaparai, Dindigul, Sholavandanam and finally terminate at Madurai. The total distance covered is 493 km in 8 hours. The Bagh Express is the daily express train running between Howrah, Kolkata and Kathgodam in the state of Uttarakhand. The train covers a long distance of 1520km in approximately 35hours 45minutes. The train maintains an average speed of 42km/hr due to the geographical conditions in Northern India.

Howrah is one of the most important railway stations serving the city of Kolkata, which entertains millions of tourists round the year. Kolkata is world famous for its historical monuments, culture and art, as a result of which many Indians and international tourists visit the place. Uttaranchal is emerging as a massive tourism state of India.

The state is home to around 50 hill stations and various winter sports that can be held only in these parts of the country.
