The Saharanpur railway station (station code SRE) is in Uttar Pradesh on the Ambala-Roorkee railway line in Northern Railway’s Ambala Cantonment Division. A major junction, it is a re-fueling station for diesel locomotives in the region. Barauni-Amritsar Jansewa Express, Dehradun-Bandra Express, Akal Takht Express, Indore-Dehradun Express, Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, Shalimar Express and Jammu Tawi-Sealdah Express are the main train connections passing through Saharanpur. Saharanpur also is on the Delhi-Meerut-Saharanpur and Delhi–Shamli–Saharanpur lines. Haridwar is just about 80 km from Saharanpur. The Saharanpur station has six platforms and as many as 130 trains pass through the station every day. The Tapri station, six km from Saharanpur, is also associated with the city.
