Overview of Kazipet Railway Station – KZJ

The Kazipet railway station (station code KZJ) is located on the Delhi-Chennai line in South Central Railway’s Secunderabad Division in Telangana. With the building of the Kazipet-Balharshah rail link in 1929, Delhi and Chennai got directly linked. In 1889, Nizam’s Guaranteed State Railway completed a line from Hyderabad to Vijayawada via Kazipet. The lines around were electrified between 1987 and 1993. Kazipet diesel loco shed has WDG-4, WDG-3A, WDM-3A and WDM-2 locos.

Kazipet electric loco shed, started in 2006, has over WAG-7 locos. The Kazipet junction also has is a coach maintenance depot. The junction handles much of the coal produced by nearby Singareni, Kothagudem, and Bellampalli mines. The station has three platforms, and as many as 124 trains run from it every day.

It also has an AC waiting hall at Rs20 for the first two hours and Rs10 per each subsequent hour. The junction also has a standard ramp with railing for barrier-free entry and wheelchairs for persons with disabilities. The station also has the pay and use toilets facility.
