Overview of Kolar Railway Station

Kolar is a town in Kolar district in the state of Karnataka and is headquarter of Kolar district located in the southern areas off the state. Whitefield Railway Station (codenamed WFD) is one of the suburban stations in the Bangalore division. The station is located in Whitefield, part of Greater Bangalore and is the suburban halt for over 9 express trains on the Bangalore – Howrah railway line. Krishnarajapuram or K.R. Puram is a suburb 15 km from Bangalore City Railway Station. A taluka headquarters, it has many government offices. The Vengayyana Lake is at its centre and the large Yelemallappa Shetty Lake is on the east of Krishnarajapuram.
